“The beauty of Lough Muckno is one of Ireland’s best kept secrets.” Christy O’Connor Jnr.
Lough Muckno may be a well kept secret, but not for much longer. As it drapes itself lazily around tree-bound islands and along the shore, the lough promises one of Ireland’s most beautiful and evocative settings for golf.
Overlooking it all is Concra Wood Golf & Country Club in Castleblayney Co. Monaghan. What other golf course can boast such a location with views over the Monaghan drumlins to distant mountains? What other golf course can boast two of Ireland’s greatest golfing legends as the designers?
Concra Wood Golf & Country Club was designed by Christy O’Connor Junior and Christy O’Connor Senior. It opened in 2008, and will become one of Ireland’s and Europe’s finest golf courses.

Rossmore was formed in 1916 by Lord Rossmore who generously offered the course free of rent in his domain, together with the Gate Lodge as the pavilion. This family link remains to this day, where Lord Rossmore, the 7th Baron, acts as Club Patron. However, Rossmore extended to 18 holes in 1992 and it is now a challenging 18-hole course.
Jack Charlton, the Republic of Ireland Manager at the time, was among the first to tackle the new Rossmore. The event was lavishly reported in the “Northern Standard” under the banner headline “Big Jack gives Rossmore’s new course a lash”.
I6 Nations Grand Slam winning team player Tommy Bowe is a member of Rossmore Golf Club. Indeed the Bowe’s have been long time members of this club.
Rossmore also offer competitive packages for societies and packages can include food, contact proshop for more details.
Clones Golf Club
Clones, County Monaghan

Clones Golf Club extended to an 18-hole Parkland course having been an 9-hole since its inception in 1913. The work was carried out under the watchful eye of Arthur Spring who has carried out several fine new and remodelling courses throughout the country.
Located in the grounds of Hilton Park some three miles outside the town, Clones is one of the driest golf courses to be found in this part of the country, making it playable all year round. The new course combines stunning views of the surrounding hills, lakes, streams and forests, and a superb golf course, makes Clones a true test of golf and a memorable day out.
The clubhouse is very friendly and full catering facilities are available during the summer months.

This relatively new Parkland course originally opened as an, 9-hole course but due to the commitment of the active committees since its inception in 1993 this course has developed into a fine 18-hole course.
Mannan Castle Golf Club has a magnificent clubhouse where the visitor is provided with all he or she can require. This course is somewhat difficult to find once you have left Carrickmacross, town so allow yourself plenty of time before your tee time.
The club has just opened a 10-bay driving range across the road from the clubhouse.
