Monaghan offers many excellent course fishing centres. A number of angling centres have developed as a result of the fishing on offer and the notable centres are Castleblaney, Carrickmacross and Monaghan Town.
Monaghan the county town boasts its very own urban fisheries with Peters Lake and Convent Lake at the heart of the town. Peters Lake is ideal for young anglers providing good sport for small roach, bream, hybrids and perch. For something bigger Glaslough Lake is a pretty lake with pike. Drumreaske Lake lies 3km north west of Monaghan on the R186. The signposted entrance has one fishing stand and is a concealed entrance. Quiglough is a 12 hectare lough and reservoir also along the R186. This is a reed fringed lake and there is club standard match fishing with 20 pegs. It holds a good stock of fish including tench to over 6lbs.
